As a kid growing up, I always knew my mom was on my side. She stood by me at school, on the playground, when I was hurt and even when I was wrong (not that she condoned the wrong, she just loved her son in spite of it). She was always my biggest cheerleader. I don't think she was unique. Even burly athletes and soldiers, when they mug for a camera, will say, "Hi Mom!" They know who's on their side.
Why is that so? Well, God has placed within the heart of a mother a strong natural affection for her children. She loves them and wants the very best for them. It's how He designed the mother-child relationship.
While you honor your mother today, thank God for her. When others neglect you or stand against you, she'll be on your side.
